It turns out that Luciferâs Ladies really are a bunch of psychos. They seduced the bartender over a week ago and got him to promise heâd slip something into Nicoâs drink the next time he came by. It was just my luck that the next time was tonight. With me.
Also, that I was the only one to consume the drugged drink.
Except maybe it wasnât drugged, because I feel fine.
Sitting back in the booth, I watched as Nico shakes the bartender like a ragdoll. The bartender wets himself, which isnât pretty. But neither is drugging someone, so I didnât pity the dude. Eventually, Nico tires of his weeping and tosses him out into the alley with a warning that he should never let Nico see his face again. My money is on the guy getting on the first bus out of town. Nico then proceeds to rage at the restaurant staff as they in turn plead for his forgiveness. Nico isnât appeased until they promise him free food for life and that he can go behind the bar and make his own drinks whenever he wants.
Finally Nico turns back to me. Bracing both hands against the tabletop, he leans in close, his one eye darting between both of mine. I realized heâs trying to see if my pupils are dilated.
âIâm fine,â I tell him.
âYou think so?â he says, and then holds out a hand. I place mine into his, expecting him to help me up onto my feet. Instead, nerve endings I didnât even know I possessed light up all over my body. I gasp as all that feeling suddenly shifts, centering on what Mom used to refer to as my lady business. For example, âPaige, that skirt is so short I can almost see your lady business.â Now my lady business is working overtime like a girl determined to break the glass ceiling once and for all. My internal muscles clench so hard that if there was a penis inside me right now, Iâm pretty sure Iâd pulp it.
Digging my nails into Nicoâs hand, I cry out and come. Right there, in the booth, in the middle of the Mexican restaurant.
Luckily, Nicoâs earlier outburst scared away the other patrons so no one is nearby to use the old, âIâll have what sheâs havingâ line.
Jerking away from Nico, I slide further back into the booth. âWhat the fuck?â I demand.
He takes his hand back. âItâs a magical drug. Something made with incubus essence.â
âOh God, you mean sperm, donât you?â I moan. âI just drank sperm-flavored margarita.â
Nico doesnât say anything, so I know Iâm right.
âLook, Iâve used this drug before and it wears off pretty quickly,â Nico says.
âHow quickly?â I demand.
âA few hours.â
I hold back a sob. âAnd what am I supposed to do until then?â
âYouâll be fine as long as you donât touch anyone or anything living. Itâs touch that sets it off.â
I swallow, as some of the panic recedes. âSo I can just go home and sleep until it goes away?â
âExactly.
